Be Ye Steadfast, Immovable

01 Oct

The recent wars in the Middle East have familiarized the American public with the concept of laser-guided missiles. They work like this: an aircraft locates a target and “paints” it with a laser beam.  Then a missile homes in on that “painted” target, soaring toward it until the objective is destroyed.  The amazing thing about these missiles is that they can literally follow the contours of the land, dipping into valleys and rising over hills (as a means of remaining below radar level), until the target is met and the victory is won.

This reminds me of a Bible verse…Thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory.  Therefore, be ye steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Cor. 15:57-58)

In this verse, God is telling us to stay on target. He wants us to remain steadfast, immovably focused on our goals, regardless of whether we are up or down. So whatever you may be believing for, remember this: God has promised you the victory.  Therefore, remain steadfast and on target, just like that little missile.  Stay focused on your goal–that dream that God has painted on your heart–cruising up and down, through the valleys and over the hills, until your victory at last is won.  For it will be won, thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ! (2 Cor. 2:14.)
