God is Just

1st Thessalonians 1:6–God is just…

We’ve all been treated unfairly, but some of us have experienced more than our fair share of injustice. Have you been cheated out of opportunity by prejudiced people? Have you been hindered by a poor upbringing, or suffered an overabundance of hard knocks?

A friend of mine sings a song that goes, “Life’s not fair, but God is good.” Let me add to that that He’s not only good, He’s just.

God loves justice and hates inequality (Ps. 61:18). In fact, righteousness and justice are the foundations of his throne (Ps. 89:14). In Hebrews 10:30 (Amplified Bible), He tells us that He will repay us the exact compensation owed to us; that He is the one to settle and solve the cases of His people. He promises in Isaiah to pay you back double for every unfair thing that’s been done to you (Is. 61:7).

It’s easy to get angry when you’ve been mistreated. It’s harder to suck it in and trust God to make things right. But it works better. It’s always best to forgive others and trust in the Lord, the Judge of all flesh, to settle your affairs. Believe me, He’ll do it, and He’ll get it right, because if God is anything, God is just.

Today’s Prayer: Father, I forgive those who’ve done me wrong. They may have done these things innocently, or with their eyes wide open. Doesn’t matter. I’m letting them go in faith that you will pay me back for the wrongs I’ve suffered. I trust in you because you are just.
