God’s Gift to Lapdancers

12 Sep

John 8:11–Jesus said unto her, “Neither do I condemn thee. Go and sin no more.”

Some Christians look down on non-believers, whom they like to refer to as “sinners,” probably because it makes them feel a little better about their own transgressions. But God doesn’t look judgmentally upon lapdancers, junkies, and the like; He looks at them through eyes of love.

I know this might seem a little shocking to some of your, but Jesus shocked a lot of people when he forgave the woman caught in adultery, the prostitute who washed his feet with her hair, and many others. In his own words, Jesus didn’t come to judge the world, he came to save it. (Jn. 3:17)

You see, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rms 3:23), meaning that when you get down to it, no one’s better than anybody else. Contrary to popular belief, the Bible makes no distinction regarding the severity of various sins. There’s only sin, which is anything that falls short of God’s glory.

But just as we’ve all sinned, we can all be justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Rms. 3:24) In other words, you and the lapdancers have something in common, which is access to grace.

Grace is God’s favor, His mercy, redemption, and forgiveness. And it’s for everyone: pimps, thieves, hookers, even you. So when you’ve done wrong, don’t run from God, run to Him. You’ll recognize Him; He’ll be the one saying, “Neither do I condemn thee. Go and sin no more.” Not that you’ll ever reach perfection in this life. That’s why there’s grace. It’s God’s gift to lapdancers, and you.

Today’s prayer: Thank you God for loving me in my imperfection. I’ll do my best to serve you in purity. Of course there’ll be times when I need your grace, and then I’ll thank you that it’s always there for me.*
